What We Do

Praise from soldiers & their families from the Fisher Houses at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC:

"...as an amputee, I have begun to run and bike and continuously place new stresses on my body...but, with the peace of mind that my Wednesday massage will be there to help me recover and prepare for the next challenge!" -Tim G.

"I am very grateful that massage was available. They really helped relieve stress and tension that comes with being in any situation at Walter Reed." -Janice G.

"You have helped me more than you will ever know. Your massage has helped me relax and give me a chance to start over. Thank you for keeping me healed while I continue to help my husband heal!" -Danielle P.

REBUILDING. We support emergency response teams that continue to serve post-Katrina volunteers of relief organizations such as AmeriCorps Disaster Team, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children, Common Ground Collective, and Disaster Corps who are all still helping to rebuild the communities in New Orleans and coastal towns in Mississippi.

HEALING. Currently we are in our third year long grant cycle of providing massage therapy and wellness programs to injured soldiers and their families housed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Our work is in the process of expanding to include collaborative efforts with yoga studios and acupuncture groups to provide much needed services to the ever growing population of military service families going through the grueling rehabilitative process.

An important goal of Touch of Relief is to develop innovative, high quality education and training programs that empower individuals and families to better manage daily stresses, increase awareness of the benefits of holistic health modalities, and encourage participation in the various field of complementary and alternative health care through learn to work programs.
